He started singing in a choir run by his mother. He also sang in a rock band and began producing music under the stage name 'Basshunter' in 2001, after six months of using. Basshunter also has a brother, a twitch streamer, named Huggehugg.

According to 2014 label figures, more than six million Basshunter records have been sold. On 5 November 2007, a new version of the 'Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA' was released under the title 'DotA'. It was charted in 's singles chart. 'DotA' is also shorter name for 'Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA' from 2006.
