Powerchute Business Edition Agent Usb

Any opinions of best method of getting the UPS to communicate with and shutdown the server: Server is 2012 R2, UPS is APC Smart-ups 3000va with Network Management card. This UPS does not have a USB connection but can use either a serial or network connection via it's Network Management card. From what I can establish we have three options on how to get the hyper-v server talking to the UPS: • Serial cable direct to server but serial UPS not supported by server 2012 so requires installation of PowerChute Business Edition Agent • Serial cable from UPS connected via a serial to USB adapter to server. Use windows native battery device to shutdown the hyper-V server in the event of power failure? Not sure if a serial to USB converter just works natively or whether it needs some sort of driver installed? I really don't like the idea of having Java installed on any server let alone a hyper-V hypervisor partition.

May 11, 2012 - USB keeps 'cutting out'. Hi I have a APC UPS hooked up via USB into one of my ESX hosts for monitoring etc. I constantly get these email alerts: PowerChute Business Edition has detected the following event: Communication Lost on Agent ServerName. I am getting other alerts too, like Overvoltage etc, but. I picKed a winna wrote: it sounds like you are using the Business Edition console. I would try closing that console out, and working with just the PCBE agent.

What is the best way to go to keep a clean and reliable hyper-V partition.

I would recommend the APC Management Card and Network Server Shutdown software from APCC. We replaced USB APC UPS with Serial attached, the USB seems to lose connectivity. Otherwise here are some other solutions There are a number of options to do this:- APCC Solutions 1. The above installs into the HOST ESX server, and then the host will trigger shutdown. PCNS as you've specified, agent needs to be installed on all your Guest VMs, in the same way you would use APCC Network Shutdown to shutdown physical machines connected to the same UPS. Or Homebrew solution for free Here are links also to previous solutions 19/01/11 03:17 PM, ID: 34639240.
