Thinkpad Windows 7 Clean Install Instructions

I decided to test Windows 10 TP on my Machine with the following configuration:- Display Panel: X140e 11.6WHD, WW AG Black WiFi wireless LAN adapters: Intel AC 7260 HMW with BT 4.0 Battery: 6 cell LI Battery X131e - (FRU 45N1063) Processor: AMD A4_5000 on MB Hard drive: 240GB SSD Kingston Hyper X Total memory: 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3L (2 X 4GB DIMM) After registering, I downloaded the 64 Bit ISO Build 9926 from the following location I then burned it on a USB Stick using the windows 7 Bootable USB / DVD Tool. • When I tried to install windows, it would not boot up.

How to do a clean windows install on. By following these instructions http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/85813-windows-7-universal-installation-disc.

Apparently the ISO image is not UEFI bootable or the windows 7 USB tool did not create one (which is very strange) I tried this 3 times before resorting to other methods. Question:- Am I the only one who has run into this and I missed something or did someone else face a similar problem? I'll just stick this one thing that leaped out at me while I look your post over in more detail: your USB flash drive has to use GPT instead of MBR. So, just after 'clean', you should have 'convert gpt'. EDIT 1: based on some research I did several months ago, in general, the automated tools to make flash drives bootable tend not to handle GPT very well.

So, your best bet is the manual list of steps (plus 'convert gpt') you listed. Half Life 1 Download Non Steam. EDIT 2: - You don't need to force an mbr onto the flash drive. Once you use the 'convert gpt' command, that should be all you'll need.

At that point, you should change back to UEFI Only (and Secure Boot if your system will handle it). When you boot the the flash drive, you'll have to pick the UEFI version of the device.

- I don't know why you can't boot from a USB 3.0 port. - As to why the Windows install wouldn't actually install to the drive it partitioned/formatted, I don't know. Hopefully, it will work with a GPT flash drive instead of an MBR one (though, that's a pretty weak statement). Once you're booted into the GPT flash drive and start the install, clear off all the partitions on the hard drive and tell the install to use that space. It should create all the necessary partitions on its own.

Once you're up and running, go to Disk Management (right click on the Start Button to see it) and right click on the drive you installed to. Select Properties Volumes and it should say 'GUID Partition Table (GPT)' in the Partition Style area. I'll just stick this one thing that leaped out at me while I look your post over in more detail: your USB flash drive has to use GPT instead of MBR. So, just after 'clean', you should have 'convert gpt'... Hi David, Thanks for your recommendation, I will try that this evening. I understand that this is the TP and the users attempting it are considered to be a little bit tech savvy but I was wondering if it was possible that an ISO is created for the Win 10 TP in such a way that it can be written onto the USB drive directly making it UEFI bootable and with GPT. That was users do not have to manually create one and saves everyone a lot of trouble during installation.
